Pflueger Summit 1993L. In Fishing > Pflueger Fishing Tackle > Show & Tell. Hoping there is a collector that can give me a bit of advise. I have an old Pflueger 1993L reel, do not want to sell it but would like to display it. 1. It has a rubber "guard" on the side opposite the crank. I have not seen this on any reels of this model.

Jessie, the Pflueger Summit No.1993, yours having the black and ivory marbled crank knobs were made from around 1930 up until the beginning of the war, it should have patent dates behind the face plate above.

Pflueger Summit 1993L. In the 20th century, this reel is considered to be one of the great icons. The Summit was one of three iconic bait casters manufactured by Enterprise Manufacturing Co, the other two were the Akron and Supreme. As of late 1926, the Summit had been redesigned in its "modern" form; it had been cataloged in 1904.
